On September 6th, despite a huge rainstorm, our Middle School Math team hosted more than 70 parents and students for our annual Math Night from 5:00-6:30 in the Hall of Peace. Parents were given a glimpse into our Math classes via examples and Math problems. Our Math department believes that everyone can learn and make sense of math, that the process and explanation are as important as the answer, that number sense is the foundation of math learning and that mistakes are an essential part of the learning journey. At the end of the session, parents were given an opportunity to work on some individual math problems with their child at tables around the room. It was a fun, informative session and we appreciate our math teachers in the Middle School! A big thanks to Mr. Fumi, Ms. Naggea, Dr. Markwell, Ms. Wood, Ms. Cornwell and Ms. Tuli who have been integral parts in developing our program! AES Middle School is so fortunate.
