Visiting cellist, Christian Pierre LaMarca, performed on a Stradivarius earlier this week at the Imperial Hotel. His teacher was Rostropovich; in soccer it would be like have Jose Maurinho be your private coach.
Fortunately, on behalf of Alliance Francaise, LaMarca was able to come to AES for a special workshop with our strings students, working especially with the cellists. This amazing artist presented and interacted with the MS strings kids in the theater. A wonderful music opportunity!
Alessia Montecalvo and Shaila Prasad enjoy the workshop with Christian Pierre LaMarca.
Classes are in full swing. In the music world – that means they are working on fingerings and making music together! Check out the great photos of students in our music program!

Beginning strings students writing in fingerings:
The British Royal Artillery Band visited campus last week. It was a fun experience for band students and teachers to see and hear what these tremendous musicians are doing. It was also great to see them work with students and their work to help students get better at playing their instruments. Ms. Bolton excaimed her joy at seeing the excitement (and sometimes surprise) on student faces as they played with the Royal Artillery Band members. Students were pushed out of their comfort zones and challenged, and had a chance to to catch a vision of possibilities!
